Strawberries

15 July 2008 No Comment

It’s strawberry time in Southern Ontario and my family has been consuming vast quantities.  I happened to see a recipe for Strawberry pie (although it’s actually a galette) and thought it would be a nice use of some strawberries.

I baked it last night and while the crust was good the berries got a little soft and in the end I decided strawberries don’t need to be in anything.  A beautiful bowl of berries all by themselves is such a wonderful summer desert.  Add some whipped cream or vanilla ice cream: you’re not masking the strawberries but bringing along another great flavour.
